War- what is it good for?

Recently I just finished reading Band of Brothers. I got interested in it after I watched the mini series on the History Channel. Both were really well done and they helped to personalize the second world war by telling the story of E Company in the 101st Airborne Division. However, as I was reading it struck me how odd it is that winning or losing is determined by killing other people and that is what war consists of, is killing others of the human race. If you think about World War II I believe that there were many good German soldiers who were fighting for the honor of their country, just like our boys were. Of course Hitler was an evil dictator and had to be stopped, just as Saddam Hussein was, but it's just sad and puzzling that the way to solve these problems is through blood shed. I have come to realize that war is a necessary evil. Weak people need to be protected from those who would try to control them but it just makes me really sad to think of all the thousands, actually more like millions, of men who have died, on both sides fighting and killing and suffering. Perhaps the title of this rant isn't fully appropriate because I am perfectly aware what the purpose of war is but you'd just think there would be another way.

Fabulous Find

I am super excited! Today at work I saw a preview for a movie called Becoming Jane. It's a rough biographical sketch of Jane Austen's life and romance that inspired her amazing novels. It stars Anne Hathway and James McAvoy both of which I love. The trailer looks awesome and I can't wait to see this movie, and thought I would share my excitement!

Just Another Manic Monday

Mondays- how I despise them! I have been at the happiest place on earth for the last week. I'm sure you're thinking Disneyland, but I am here to tell you that Disneyland is not the happiest place on Earth (shocker I know!) it is actually Lake Powell. It's not only fun but it's so beautiful. So, as previously stated I have been at Powell for the last week and today I had to face the real world of work again. It's amazing how after only a week you can feel dazed and out of the loop. I wondered around for a while trying to catch by bearings (ok that's a lie, but it sounds good right?!) but seriously, I felt like it was my first day all over again. Wierd. On a happy note, I am pleased to announce that I am getting a pay raise! Sure it's only 25 cents and it doesn't kick in until the end of August, but every little bit helps when you're in college with your own bills to pay!

A New Adventure

So this is a little experiment. I don't actually expect anyone to read this but sometimes I have things that I just want to put out there and this seems like a good way to do that. We'll see how it goes.
